Chalk Joins Goodby to Partner With Steele
NEW YORK–Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco has tapped Chris Chalk as director of account planning. He had been at TBWA/Chiat/Day in Playa del Rey, Calif., for two years, most recently as director of account planning and managing partner. At Goodby, Chalk will work alongside director of account planning Jon Steel, who is also a partner.
Burnett Wins ToysRUs.com; Art.com Next
CHICAGO–Leo Burnett here has won ad duties for ToysRUs.com, a San Francisco subsidiary of the retailer, sources said. Billings were unknown. Toys R Us earlier this year awarded Burnett and Starcom Worldwide its $70 million retail ad account. Separately, sources said that online retailer Art.com is expected to assign its $15-20 million account to Burnett. The company declined to confirm a decision. Contenders include Ogilvy & Mather in Chicago; Mullen in Wenham, Mass.; and Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG, New York.
Boeing to Whittle Contenders This Week
LOS ANGELES–Boeing is expected to narrow the list of contenders for its estimated $30 million account this week, sources said. Agencies vying include Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York, McCann-Erickson and D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in Los Angeles, J. Walter Thompson and Young & Rubicam in San Francisco, the incumbent Cole & Weber, Seattle, pitching with sister shop Ogilvy & Mather, New York. The client and consultant Geduldig & Ferguson, New York, could not be reached.
D’Arcy Hires Stephani Cook in New Position
NEW YORK–D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles has hired Stephani Cook as senior vice president, director of leadership strategy, a new post, effective immediately. Cook reports to Susan Gianinno, president of D’Arcy TransAtlantic and chief branding officer worldwide. The two worked together at Young & Rubicam.
Sealy Narrows Search to 5 in Southeast
ATLANTA–Sealy Mattresses has picked five Southeast finalists in its $15 million review to replace Chicago’s Leo Burnett, said sources. WestWayne Recruits Johnson as President
NEW YORK–Jeff Johnson, formerly at Wells BDDP, is on the verge of signing a contract for a new position at Atlanta’s WestWayne, sources said. Johnson will be named president of the agency’s operations in Miami and Tampa, Fla. He is expected to begin at the end of July.
