BOSTON-Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos has surfaced in Wenner Media’s estimated $2-4 million review. The Boston shop joins Interpublic Group stablemate Mullen in Wenham, Mass., plus Arnold Communications here; GSD&M in Austin, Texas; and Carmichael Lynch of Minneapolis. New York-based Wenner publishes Rolling Stone, Us and Men’s Journal magazines.

DALLAS-J.C. Penney Co. in Plano, Texas, last week appointed senior vice president and chief marketing officer Stephen Farley to a new post overseeing the retailer’s department store and catalog advertising. Farley, who could not be reached for comment, was formerly senior vice president of marketing for Payless Shoesource in Topeka, Kan. His marketing duties were performed by former president of marketing and company communications, Gale Duff-Bloom, who was elevated to president of company communications and corporate image. There was no information from the company nor from sources on whether the personnel change would affect J.C. Penney’s agency roster of Temerlin McClain in Irving, Texas (creative and print media duties), Televest in New York (broadcast buying) and DDB Dallas (print media and creative responsibilities for Arizona Jean Co.).
“Peter A. Mayer Promotes Executive
DALLAS-Peter A. Mayer Advertising of New Orleans has promoted management supervisor F. Ross Crusemann to vice president of the agency. Crusemann manages the shop’s Louisiana tourism account with the state’s Culture, Recreation and Tourism Department in Baton Rouge, La. The agency recently had its $9 million annual tourism contract renewed. Crusemann has been with the agency since 1994, after working as marketing director for Motel 6.
“Gart Sports Adds B’ham Shop to Lineup
CHICAGO-Gart Sports has awarded O2 Ideas in Birmingham, Ala., a broadcast branding project after a review that included finalists Leo Burnett in Chicago and Fogarty Klein & Partners in Houston, company officials said. Earlier this year, the Denver-based sporting goods retailer assigned media buying duties on its $8-10 million account to Carat ICG in Los Angeles. O2’s work for the company is expected to break this fall.
