6 Vie for Trex Account BOSTON--Mullen in Wenham, Mass., is one of a half-dozen semifinalists competing for the $3-5 million ad account of Trex Co. in Winchester, Va. Also pitching are The Richards Group, Dallas; HBRA & Partners, New York; Campbell-Ewald, Warren, Mich.; and Campbell Mithun Esty and Carmichael Lynch, both Minneapolis. Finalists will be named in a few weeks; a decision is expected later this summer. The search is being conducted by Boston-based management consulting firm Pile and Co. Hewlett-Packard Taps SIG BOSTON--Strategic Interactive Group here has been awarded an estimated $2 million interactive assignment from Hewlett-Packard Hardcopy Products Group. The Boise, Idaho-based client chose SIG over Agency.com, New York and San Francisco, and US Web/Ikonic, San Francisco. SIG is the interactive division of Boston-based direct marketing firm Bronner Slosberg Humphrey. Eastpak Effort 'Gets It On' BOSTON--Backpack manufacturer Eastpak in Lowell, Mass., will launch a TV, print and outdoor campaign as part of a back-to-school push called "Get it on." TV spots will appear on MTV, The Simpsons, Clueless and Moesha. Print executions will run in both consumer and trade publications. The effort was created by RDA International in New York, which last year replaced Clarke Goward in Boston. McDougall Buyout Is Complete BOSTON--New York-based Bozell Worldwide last week completed its acquisition of McDougall Associates in Peabody, Mass. McDougall will change its name to Bozell Kamstra and operate as part of that Minneapolis-based division, which specializes in business-to-business accounts. Dan McDougall will continue as senior vice president, general manager; Michael McDougall will remain senior partner. Both will report to Bozell Kamstra president Dean Buresh. L.L. Bean to Introduce Women-Only Catalog BOSTON--L.L. Bean has announced plans to launch Freeport Studio, a separate but affiliated business that will have its own catalog for women. The catalog, slated to debut in January, will feature a new line of clothing under the Freeport Studio name. The brand has been in development for the past nine months, according to Steve Fuller, the Freeport, Maine-based company's director of advertising and customer loyalty. Fuller said Mullen in Wenham, Mass., will likely be involved in promoting the new catalog. Commonwealth Views Trinity BOSTON--Trinity Communications here is one of six recipients of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Vision in Every Workplace (VIEW) awards. The agency was recognized for implementing successful and creative programs that help employees balance work and family responsibilities.
