“Celebrity Cruises Names 3 Finalists
ATLANTA-Celebrity Cruises in Miami has made a cut in the agency search involving its $1.4 million collateral account, said review consultant Jan Apple of Minnetonka, Minn. Design Horizons International, Vero Beach, Fla.; Burnett Group, New York; and WestWayne’s Miami and Tampa, Fla., offices are the finalists. Celebrity’s lead shop, Harris Drury Cohen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was eliminated. Apple said reports that Miami’s Avanti Advertising & Marketing Consultants was pitching were incorrect. Incumbent SHR Perceptual Management in Scottsdale, Ariz., did not defend.
“Duffey Has a Flood of New PR Business
ATLANTA-Duffey Communications here has added 16 new clients to its public relations roster. They include Progressive Insurance, Columbus, Ohio; the Atlanta Apartment Association; and Mediappraise, a Raleigh, N.C., Internet-based performance management service. Also, visual communications subsidiary Studio D has been hired by Dogwood Brewing Co. of Atlanta.
“Principal Financial Puts $25-30 Mil. in Play
CHICAGO-Principal Financial Group is contacting agencies about its $25-30 million account. Questionnaires, which were sent out last week, are due back at month’s end. Triad Consulting Group, Troy, Mich., is conducting the search. The company is looking at agencies in Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Mo., and other cities. Incumbent Brown Marketing Communications here declined to participate in the review. A decision is expected this summer.
“WPP Invests in Market Segment Group
ATLANTA-WPP Group in New York has purchased a 49 percent stake in The Market Segment Group of Coral Gables, Fla., a marketing consulting, research, training and development concern. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The Florida agency has satellite offices in New York and Cincinnati.
“PictureTel Focuses on Agency Review
BOSTON-PictureTel Corp., the Andover, Mass., videoconferencing firm in which Intel has a 10 percent stake, confirmed that it is talking with agencies about its advertising account. The troubled company, which reported a $56 million loss in 1998, most recently worked with Harpell/Martins in Maynard, Mass. Spending is expected to be in the $2-3 million range.
