High-Tech Texas Ad Pros Open Point Blank in Austin, Irving

Two high-tech advertising practitioners have joined to form a two-office advertising agency that will cater to the technology industries in Dallas and Austin, Texas.
Colin Shubitz, owner and creative director of Irving, Texas-based CSA&D, has partnered with Larry McIntosh, former account manager and media director at Austin’s MC2, to establish full-service agency Point Blank Advertising.
PBA, launching with $3 million in billings from several undisclosed Dallas-area clients, will operate in both Austin and Irving, Texas, according to Shubitz. Five staff members are already on board in Irving, with more to be hired in Austin, he said.
“We met through a business consultant, and he was one of the leading candidates,” recalled Shubitz, who previously held creative positions at Ogilvy & Mather in South Africa and McCann-Erickson in Los Angeles. “We hit it off from the word go.”
Prior to starting CSA&D, Shubitz was the creative chief of Dallas shop McNay.
McIntosh has been with MC2 for the past two and a half years, and will be in charge of agency operations and account management. Shubitz said the new arrangement enables him to concentrate more on creative duties.
High-tech clients have been Shubitz’s focus in recent years, but he said his background is in consumer and retail marketing. Shubitz said he would like PBA to maintain a foothold in those categories.
