Harris Bank Poised to Select Element 79

CHICAGO Harris Bank is set to award its $10 million advertising account to Omnicom Group’s Element 79 after a review, sources said.

The Chicago agency bested four other local shops for the business: incumbent Arnold (which pitched with Havas sister agency Euro RSCG), WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather and independent agency Two by Four, according to sources. Arnold has held the business since 1997.

Agency executives either could not be reached or referred calls to the client. A client representative declined comment.

Harris Bank, based in Chicago, is the U.S. arm of the Bank of Montreal. It operates about 170 locations in the Chicago area as well as Arizona and Florida.

While sources said annual spending was in the $10 million range, Harris spent $1.5 million in measured media, all of it in spot television last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus
