Haggman Picks Up a Pair

Haggman is closing its year with assignments from Care New England and The Energy Star Home Improvement Program.

The Manchester, Mass., agency, which celebrates its 10th anniversary next month, bested un-disclosed contenders in separate reviews for the assignments, which are worth about $5 million combined, agency officials said.

RDW Group, Providence, R.I., previously represented Care New England, the parent organization of Butler Hospital, Kent Hospital, Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, Care New England Wellness Centers and others. It could not be determined by presstime if RDW defended the account.

“We’ve been wanting to work with them for years,” Haggman partner Emily Haggman said of Care New England. “They have an incredible reputation, and Women & Infants is known across the country, especially for high-risk pregnancies,” she said.

Haggman previously worked with CareGroup Healthcare System for the past six years. The consortium of Boston-area hospitals awarded its business to BVK/McDonald, Milwaukee, in August following a review. Haggman had declined to participate in that competition.

For Energy Star, Haggman pitched with the Conservation Services Group, Westborough. The two firms met through Konjolka/KSL Media, Wellesley, Mass., which was already on board to handle media buying. That shop is a frequent Haggman partner.

While the scope of work for Care New England is still being determined, it will likely include television advertising, Emily Haggman said.

Work for Energy Star Home Improvement, a pilot program designed to make New York state homes more energy efficient and safe, will include TV, radio, print, collateral and public relations.

Ads are expected to break early in the first quarter.

The agency claimed $4.3 million in revenue and roughly $30 million in billings in 1999.
