Leo Burnett, Ogilvy & Mather and McCann-Erickson have some new competition in their contest to come up with a new branding platform for Motorola.
Chicago Tribune columnist Bob Greene last week offered his services to the high-tech company. After criticizing, McCann’s “Wings” and “Web w/o wires” efforts, as well as the advertising process in general, Greene promised to come up with a new theme for Motorola in two days time. The company only had to agree to give Greene credit and donate the percentage of money that would have gone to an ad agency for the task to a charity of the columnist’s choosing.
Motorola said it was willing to listen to Greene’s suggestion, but on their own terms.
“Although we will continue to designate our charitable beneficiaries, we welcome the creativity and suggestions for Motorola from thoughtful people,” said CEO Christopher Galvin in a statement.
