Greenberg Engages Murphy

Peter Murphy has joined Greenberg Seronick O’Leary & Partners as executive vice president, director of account services.

In his new role at the Boston agency, Murphy will oversee management of all accounts, including the Shaw’s Supermarkets and Star Markets grocery chains, Spalding, LoJack and the Cambridge Savings Bank. GSO is one of the region’s larger independent shops.

Murphy joins GSO after 13 years in BBDO’s Minneapolis office, where he most recently was vice president and account director on the Hormel Foods business. During that tenure, he oversaw strategic development and implementation for various product promotions, including Spam and other canned goods, frozen foods and fresh meat products.

Terry O’Leary, president of GSO, cited Murphy’s consumer goods experience and called him a strong addition.

“[He has] a wealth of consumer goods marketing experience and can bring versatility and seasoning of 20-plus years of experience to us,” O’Leary said.

“I think I can give some added value for the Shaw’s business,” Murphy said.

He is also is excited about working with LoJack, a stolen vehicle recovery system which will introduce several new products through TV, radio, print and Internet executions through GSO. And he’s looking forward to strategizing for Spalding’s Ben Hogan golf clubs, he said. “The golf business is tremendous—it’s great fun and a new category for me,” he said.

Prior to BBDO, Murphy was an account supervisor at Noble & Associates, working mainly on its Tyson’s Food account, and Bozell & Jacobs, where he worked with Armour Foods and American Airlines.
