GolinHarris Prevails in Avocado Review

BOSTON The California Avocado Commission has tapped a winner in its search for an agency to handle its U.S. public relations account, Select Resources International confirmed.

The Santa Monica, Calif., search consultancy said Interpublic Group’s GolinHarris in Los Angeles would handle the CAC’s PR account.

GolinHarris triumphed over two other finalists: WPP Group’s Burson-Marsteller and Ogilvy PR in Los Angeles.

“Bringing GolinHarris aboard to handle public relations for the CAC and Hass Avocado Board signals the beginning of a new epoch in our history,” said Mark Affleck, president and CEO of the CAC, in a statement. “As we face the tumult and challenge of change in our hotly competitive world, it is imperative that we develop strategic communications across myriad stakeholder fronts.”

GolinHarris’ Los Angeles office will lead the account. The budget was not disclosed.

CAC’s other roster shops are Dentsu’s Colby & Partners, Santa Monica, which handles consumer advertising and Interactivate, San Diego, and Fusion Marketing, which provides interactive and trade marketing, respectively.
