BOSTON Could Apple’s “Get a Mac” campaign get any more iconic? Of course! All it needed was the faux-TV-holiday special treatment and, voila, an instant seasonal classic that deftly combines beloved cross-generational media imagery. In this case, the boomers’ Rankin/Bass seasonal animation style and the ubiquitous Gen-Y Macintosh ads. Portly Jonathan Hodgman (PC) and scruffy, angular Justin Long (Mac) are transformed into the Heat and Snow Miser for the digital age, singing not about “A year without a Santa Clause,” but computer purchasing choices in a rendition of “Santa Clause Is Coming to Town,” led by Kris Kringle himself.
