Georgia Aquarium Books Arketi

ATLANTA Arketi Group said it has been hired to produce a book documenting the construction of the new Georgia Aquarium, billed as the largest of its kind in the world.

Brasfield & Gorrie, the contractor who led the construction, retained the independent Atlanta shop without a review.

The 216-page coffee-table book will consist primarily of photographs taken during the construction of the 8 million gallon facility in downtown Atlanta. The text will include comments by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin, Georgia Gov. Sonny Purdue and Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus, who donated $200 million to build the aquarium.

Arketi sorted through more than 13,000 photographs to select the images included in the book. At least 500 copies of the leather-bound, full-color volume will be printed by the end of the year and distributed to the people most involved with the construction.

The agency also has been retained by IBT Enterprises to provide public relations work for the builder of bank branches and marketing support for the surveying and engineering division of Leica Geosystems. Nokia has hired Arketi to provide internal communications for the company’s service excellence program within its field operations unit.

Billings for the four clients combined will be about $500,000, the shop said.
