Fodor’s Targets Family Road Trips

Targeting consumers who are tightening their belts during the economic slowdown, Fodor’s series of travel guides is unveiling its “Road Guide USA” books, which gives families information for planning cheap car trips.

To promote the 15-volume set, Fodor’s will begin running on April 30 a 15-second commercial spot, per Sawyer Miller, New York, entitled “Big Guides for a Big Country.” The ad, aimed at women 25-49, will air during the morning news in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington, as well as on select cable networks. The books, available in stores April 10, cover 22,000 places to sleep and 15,000 places to eat in 3,700 towns.
