FCB Hires Creative Chief

LOS ANGELES — After nine months without a head creative, Foote, Cone & Belding in Southern California said today it has tapped Holland Henton to fill the post.

Henton, 40, was most recently senior vice president, group creative director at McCann-Erickson in New York. He has led creative on such accounts as Southwest Airlines, Federal Express, Spalding Golf, General Mills and Coca-Cola.

At FCB in Irvine, Calif, Henton takes the title of senior vice president, executive creative director. He replaces Scott Montgomery, who departed in June and is now executive vice president and executive creative director at the T&O Group in Irvine.

The shop’s president Jim Harrington said that Henton offers ” the best combination of brilliant creative and incredibly smart strategic abilities.” He added that Henton has the ability to “find simple consumer insight and translate that to advertising that actually grows a client’s business.”

Henton starts on March 18, and will oversee creative direction for all FCB Southern California clients, including TaylorMade-adidas, Hilton Hotels, Kawasaki Motors Corp., Taco Bell Corp., and Sunkist. He will report to Harrington.
