Draftfcb Names Fassnacht Strategy Chief

NEW YORK Draftfcb has promoted Michael Fassnacht to the new role of global chief strategy officer at the IPG agency based in Chicago. He previously served as the shop’s chief customer intelligence officer.

In his new post, Fassnacht (shown) will help set overall corporate strategy while overseeing numerous global functions such as media, planning, customer intelligence, digital strategy, retail, promotion and CRM.

A 20-year industry veteran, he joined the agency in 2005 from Loyalty Matrix, an analytics firm he founded in 2002. Prior to that, he served as vp,
international sales and client services at CRM company Netcentives.

“Michael has done an outstanding job helping to marry the science of data analytics with the art of creativity,” said agency CEO Laurence Boschetto, in a statement. “As one of our most published and well-regarded thought leaders, he has the strategic sensibility, the experience and the focus to take a long-term view and help define the kind of agency we’re going to be in five years, then help get us there.”

Added Fassnacht: “My vision is to more tightly integrate the thinking and expertise of our world-class practice leaders, while developing intellectual property that can be used across our client base.”

This marks the second time Draftfcb has shuffled its leadership team since the year began. In January, Boschetto was elevated to CEO as Howard Draft shifted to chairman. At the same time, CCO Jonathan Harries was named vice chairman.

The shop has also been on a beer new-business streak, adding Miller Lite’s $140 million account this month after gaining sizeable MillerCoors assignments late last year.
