DiMassimo Enlists Chairman

NEW YORK Just one week after adding Lee Goldstein’s name to the door, independent New York branding agency DiMassimo-Goldstein has named Frank Sampogna chairman.

Mark DiMassimo, the founder of the 40-person agency, remains its CEO and creative chief.

Sampogna had been chairman of Cossette Post in New York, a division of Canadian shop Cossette Communications. He is also a previous managing director of Gillespie Advertising in Princeton, N.J., and for more than a decade was a partner at Wells, Rich & Greene in New York.

DiMassimo and Sampogna met while serving on the New York Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, and have collaborated on projects for several years.

“Frank is one of the great all-around advertising professionals,” said DiMassimo. “Throughout his successful career, he’s shown a real genius for getting the client amazing results by brilliantly orchestrating the agency team. Yes, he’s been great at helping agencies grow, but Frank is really about one word and that word is ‘team.’ The depth, confidence and sophistication he brings to that word are inspiring.”

Said Sampogna, “I’m impressed by DiMassimoGoldstein’s track record of getting outsized results for clients—and I see a great opportunity to build it on a larger scale. This agency was ahead on integration with direct, ahead on new-media-based strategies, ahead on buzz, ahead on brand advocacy.”

The shop has handled efforts for companies such as American Business Media, Crunch Fitness, Comcast, GoSmile, MaxMD and Pfizer, among others. Its 2006 “Devoured by the influential” campaign for ABM ranks among its best-known work.
