DDB Taps McCann Exec as Global CMO

NEW YORK DDB worldwide CEO Ken Kaess has hired veteran McCann Erickson executive Lori Senecal to become chief marketing officer, a new global post, the shop said today.

Senecal, 40, will handle the overall marketing of DDB, including new business efforts, and ensure that clients get all the services they need, according to the agency. She starts Nov. 1 and will report to Kaess.

“Both entrepreneurial and passionate, she already has the DDB DNA and I am looking forward to working with her,” said Kaess, in a statement. “I know our people and our clients will find Lori an exceptional talent and leader.”

Senecal most recently was evp and general manager of Interpublic Group-owned McCann’s Tag unit, as well as director of account management at McCann in New York. She helped launch TAG, a youth marketing unit, in 2003. Overall, she spent 14 years at McCann, working in three different offices and in two disciplines (account management and strategic planning).

In a statement, Senecal described Omnicom Group’s DDB as an “accomplished agency” and her new role as an “exciting opportunity.” She added: “It was the right opportunity at the right time. It felt like a tailor-made fit for me.”

At TAG, executive creative director Craig Markus shared management duties with Senecal and will now add the title of general manager, said a McCann representative. McCann has yet to fill the director of account management post.
