Dailey Loses Public Storage to Michigan Shop

LOS ANGELES Public Storage is moving its advertising account from Dailey & Associates to Doner, the client confirmed.

The Glendale, Calif., storage company has worked with Interpublic Group’s Dailey in West Hollywood, Calif., since 2000. In 2002, Public Storage added independent Inter/Media in Encino, Calif., to its roster. The shop served as a subcontractor to Dailey and handled direct response media

Dailey participated in the review, sources said. Dailey officials could not immediately be reached. The other contenders could not be identified.

Billings could not immediately be determined. Public Storage spent $12 million on ads in 2003, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

A Public Storage representative declined to comment on the reason for the shift and referred questions to Doner. Officials at the Southfield, Mich.-based independent could not immediately be reached for comment.

According to sources, the agency change comes as Public Storage increases its focus on direct response.

Founded in 1971, Public Storage manages more than 800,000 self-serve storage spaces in 80 U.S. and Canadian cities.
