Critical Mass Taps Former Scient Exec

NEW YORK Critical Mass has hired Robert Morris as vice president of consulting at the interactive agency’s Chicago office.

In the newly created post, Morris, 32, will develop new processes and methodologies in support of clients in different categories, and will work on projects specific to his experience with packaged-goods and retail clients. He will report to Neil Clemmons, senior vice president of client services at Critical Mass, which is 50 percent owned by Omnicom Group.

Morris previously was vice president and client partner in the retail and packaged-goods practice at Scient, which was bought by SBI & Company last summer. He joined New York-based Scient in 2001 through the technology consultancy’s merger with Atlanta-based iXL, which he had been at since June 1999. At that company, he was responsible for General Electric’s direct-to-consumer online programs.

Before joining iXL, Morris spent four years as chief executive officer of San Antonio-based Inmar Group, a boutique consultancy that developed interactive initiatives for Cadillac, Buick and AT&T, among others.
