NEW YORK Ross Sutherland, a former executive creative director at Young & Rubicam in New York, has joined Bill Gates’ Corbis in the new position of chief creative officer.

Sutherland, 55, will be based in New York and report to Gary Shenk, svp of images at Corbis. He is charged with leading a global creative team and growing, archiving and managing the company’s photography collection.

During his more than 25 years in advertising, Sutherland, an art director by trade, has worked on brands such as Jaguar, Sony Electronics, AT&T and Chevron.
