CHICAGO–Clark Refining & Marketing Inc.’s selection of Chicago agency Schafer Condon Carter as its agency of record ended a five-month review.

Clark, headquartered in St. Louis but with marketing offices outside Chicago, estimated its annual spending at $2.5 million. The company operates 800 gasoline stations and On The Go convenience stores in the Midwest and along the Gulf Coast. It is the fourth-largest independent refiner and marketer in the country.

John Matthews, Clark’s director of marketing, credited Schafer Condon Carter’s ‘entrepreneurial approach’ as a factor in its winning of the business.
