DALLAS Elvis Presley Enterprises begins celebrating the 50th anniversary of the performer’s ascension to rock ‘n’ roll stardom on his birthday in January with events continuing through the year at his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tenn., promoters said.

The year 1956 included the release of Presley’s debut RCA single, first television appearances, initial movie release and other career benchmarks, promoters of the late entertainer’s legacy said.
