NEW YORK CBS on Wednesday defended its refusal to air issue advocacy ads, after more than two dozen Democratic lawmakers sent chief executive Les Moonves a letter protesting the network’s decision to keep liberal group’s MoveOn.org’s spot criticizing President Bush off Sunday’s Super Bowl.

CBS refused MoveOn.org’s request to purchase commercial time during the Super Bowl. The spot, “Child’s Play,” focused on the federal deficit it claims the Bush administration has created [Adweek Online Jan. 16].
