Cars.com Teams With Hispanic Portal

CHICAGO Cars.com said it has entered into an exclusive partnership with the Hispanic Web portal Terra.

Cars.com, a division of Classified Ventures (which is owned by Belo, Gannett Co. Inc., the McClatchy Co., and Tribune Co.), said its inventory of more than 2 million new and used vehicles will appear on Terra.com’s automotive channel. Terra.com visitors will also have access to Car.com’s private-party listing service, “Sell It Yourself.”

“Working with Terra.com connects Cars.com advertisers with an important audience they might not otherwise reach,” Cars.com President Mitch Golub said in a statement. “At the same time, we are building on our strategy to meet the needs of Spanish-speaking car shoppers.”

Earlier this year, Cars.com launched a Spanish-language site, allowing visitors to search for used cars in Spanish.

Terra.com said that among its unique visitors, 60 percent are online daily, and 50 percent indicate they would purchase a car on the Internet. Terra.com users by a margin of 84 percent rate the Web as the best media source for automotive information, the portal said.

Cars.com’s partnership network includes such automotive destination sites such as Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com; MSN Autos; ForbesAutos.com; and ConsumerGuide.com.

Cars.com advertisers can reach two-thirds of all online used-car shoppers through that network, Golub said.

Terra.com is the U.S. Hispanic division of the Terra Networks group, a global Internet business that operates Web sites in the United States, Spain and Latin America, and is the largest Internet access provider in Spain and Latin America.
