Burnett Shores Up Account Side

Leo Burnett Technology Group has hired two senior executives with Microsoft experience to strengthen its account division in San Francisco, agency officials said.

Paul Brown and Antoine Mitchell, both veterans of McCann-Erickson/A&L in San Francisco, have moved to Burnett as account supervisor and account director, respectively.

Brown, 31, will work on several high-end business-to-business accounts, such as CommerceRoute and Applied Materials.

“Paul is one of the Bay Area’s brightest marketing minds,” said agency president Robert Ahearn. “[He] has serviced an impressive client list in both a strategic and creative capacity, and he’ll bring that experience to his leadership position with us.”

Brown formerly worked as an account supervisor on McCann’s $300-350 million Micro soft business. As part of that team, Brown helped launch the software maker’s Windows 2000 campaign.

Brown also spent three years at Publicis & Hal Riney, San Francisco, where he worked on the Saturn and First Union accounts. He also spent time at FCB Worldwide in San Francisco.

Brown emphasized that he was impressed with Burnett’s commitment to working with technology companies. “Their approach allows them to offer clients the technology advertising and branding expertise that traditional agencies can’t match,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mitchell, 29, will work on several accounts, including EXP.com and Covalent.

“Antoine has worked on behalf of some technology giants, and we’re proud to have him on our team,” Ahearn said.

At McCann, Mitchell was a management supervisor on Microsoft. He also worked for a year as an account supervisor at Young & Rubicam’s San Francisco office on such accounts as Adobe Systems and Sony.

Burnett’s San Francisco office is a regional outpost of Chicago-based TFA/Leo Burnett Technology Group.
