Bulchandani Promoted to Run McCann MasterCard Unit

Succeeds Joyce King Thomas

Devika Bulchandani has been promoted to president of McCann XBC, the agency’s dedicated global MasterCard unit, succeeding Joyce King Thomas, who takes on the role of chairman.

Bulchandani has been working as managing director of global strategy at McCann and chief strategy officer at McCann XBC, which was created as McCann ExtraBoldCondensed in 2012. She was part of XBC’s launch team, working with King Thomas. The unit partners with additional McCann Worldgroup companies like digital shop MRM//McCann and Interpublic’s digital agency R/GA and sports and entertainment firm Octagon.

Bulchandani has been with McCann since 1997 and became chief strategy officer of McCann New York in 2005.

In December 2012, King Thomas, who was McCann New York’s chief creative officer from 2004-2010, returned to the agency to set up and run McCann XBC for MasterCard, one of the agency’s largest global clients. (She had left at the end of 2010 after new McCann Worldgroup chief Nick Brien took over the company.) MasterCard is an account King Thomas knows well, having been a co-creator of the marketer’s long-running "Priceless" campaign in 1997.
