BMW Unveils Trailer to Latest Digital Film

NEW YORK — BMWfilms has unveiled the trailer to its latest digital film, due out Oct. 24, as well as details about the next two installments. The effort ( http://bmwfilms.com ) is the sequel to BMW of North America’s highly-acclaimed “The Hire” digital film series.

The trailer shows clips from “Hostage,” directed by John Woo (“Windtalkers,” “Mission Impossible II,” “Face/Off”). The film follows the driver as he races to locate a kidnapped victim locked in the trunk of an abandoned car somewhere on the water’s edge. Linked to her only by cell phone, the driver narrows in on her location.

The BMW model showcased in the latest round of films is the 2003 Z4 Roadster. The other two films, “The Ticker” and “Beat the Devil,” are due to roll out Nov. 7 and Nov. 21, respectively. Fallon in Minneapolis is the ad agency driving the program.

A hybrid of cinema and campaign, the initial five films debuted last year on BMWFilms.com and featured the work of directors, Ang Lee and Guy Ritchie, and actors, Mickey Rourke and Madonna. In the follow-up, British actor, Clive Owens, reprises his role as The Driver, the mysterious chauffeur who takes passengers on a high-powered car chase in a BMW.
