Blanchard Schaefer Wins Top Addy

DALLAS Blanchard Schaefer Advertising & Public Relations took home top honors at the Advertising Club of Fort Worth’s annual Addy Awards gala, the shop said.

The Arlington, Texas-based agency was awarded best of show for its outdoor campaign on behalf of MosquitoNix’s pest control. The ads, which featured provocative headlines such as “Stop Donating Blood” and “Stop Feeding the Hungry,” began running last April in the Dallas and Houston markets.

According to shop principal Ken Schaefer, the campaign will expand to other cities like Atlanta this year and include radio, print and direct mail components.

“Winning the [MosquitoNix] account was an interesting process because I was so passionate about the creative,” said Schaefer. “So I’m really proud of winning best of show not for some pro bono work, but for a paying client.”

BSA also received eight gold, five silver and one bronze award.

Other Fort Worth shop winners include: The Balcom Agency with 24 awards (two special judges’ awards, nine gold, 10 silver and five bronze); GCG Advertising with 21 awards (two special judges’ awards, nine gold, six silver and four bronze) and Radio Shack’s Circle R Group with 16 awards (six gold, eight silver and two bronze).

In addition, Design Works and Madhouse Creative each received special judges’ awards for a Bryson Square at City Park brochure and photography of the Fort Worth Zoo, respectively.

Held Saturday night at the Maddox-Muse Center in Fort Worth, 149 awards were presented to 25 agencies and companies. The winners were selected from more than 425 entries.
