BBDO: Hail to the Chiefs

ATLANTA A campaign for a presidential exhibit at the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum here from BBDO will break Feb. 9 in The Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The Atlanta agency’s largely pro-bono effort includes print ads that carry the tagline, “The presidents will see you now,” to promote a traveling exhibit of presidential paintings from the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.

Ads feature the portraits of John F. Kennedy, Thomas Jefferson and Richard Nixon.

Text by senior copywriter Mike Weidner that accompanies Norman Rockwell’s portrait of Nixon reads: “In this exhibit, sometimes it’s the light and shadow that contrast. Sometimes it’s the artist and subject.”

BBDO’s Atlanta partner, Fitzpatrick Lewis, is coordinating public relations support for the exhibit.

The most famous collection in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery will be on display at the Carter Library beginning Feb. 15. “Portraits of the Presidents from the National Portrait Gallery” features 60 paintings, sculptures, photographs and other renderings, depicting all of the chief executives from George Washington through Bill Clinton. The exhibit will tour the country after its Atlanta run ends in May.
