BBDO Detroit to Focus on Creative Strategy

DETROIT BBDO Detroit has hired former J. Walter Thompson executive Tom Luke for a new top-level position at the agency focusing on creative strategy, sources said.

BBDO employees were told about Luke’s arrival in an internal memo Wednesday, sources said. Agency representatives could not be reached for comment.

Luke will serve as executive vice president and creative strategic planning director and will report to Bill Morden, vice chairman and chief creative officer at the Troy, Mich., agency, whose sole client is DaimlerChrysler. He joins former BBDO Chicago executive Phil Gant, who was hired last week as executive creative director, on the creative management team.

Luke has worked on the Ford Motor Co. account at JWT for the past two years and was involved in creating the corporate campaign featuring Ford CEO Bill Ford Jr. Prior to JWT, Luke worked for more than a decade on the Chrysler account at FCB Worldwide, Southfield, Mich., which is where he met and worked with Morden.
