Arnold Returns Choice Hotels to Olympics

CHICAGO Choice Hotels will be the exclusive hotel category advertiser in NBC’s telecast of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, from Feb. 10-26.

Additionally, Choice will air 75 radio spots during Olympic broadcasts on Westwood One’s network featuring the voice of Phylicia Rashad.

The television spots, via Arnold in McLean, Va., will promote the chain’s spring program, “Stay 2 times. Earn a free night.” Travelers who belong or enroll in Choice Privileges, the company’s frequent-guest program, qualify for free lodging when they stay two separate times at any Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion or MainStay Suites brand. The commercials also will appear on the MSNBC and CNBC cable networks.

Radio creative, also from Arnold, will promote economy brands Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn by touting an offer, ending April 30, that gives guests bonus Easy Choice stamps, which they can accumulate toward a free stay.

“We secured the same role for the 2004 Summer Games in Greece, and it was such a huge success for us we knew we had to do the same deal this year,” said Wayne Wielgus, Choice’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “The addition of advertisements during radio broadcasts allows us to spread the Choice message further.”
