Arnold N.Y. Hires CDs, AEs

NEW YORK Arnold has added four executives in its New York office, including two creative directors and two account executives.

The new hires are the latest additions to the shop, which has hired about 40 people this year, bringing the staff count to 125.

Kate Begbie, 34, has been named a creative director. At her former employer, Kraftworks, she worked on the Vespa, Hanes, Cointreau and Voss Water accounts. In the newly created position, Begbie, an art director and designer, will work on Arnold’s GlaxoSmithKline account as well as new business.

Ken Ferris, 41, has also been hired as a creative director to work with Arnold’s existing clients, as well as identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the beauty, entertainment and fashion sectors. Ferris arrives from an in-house creative director position at Estee Lauder, where he worked on the luxury Le Mer brand. He has also worked on beauty and fashion brands such as L’Oreal, Chanel and Fendi.

The new hires follow the appointment of Kate Murphy as group creative director in February. Murphy, who has worked on brands including Helen Curtis and Maybelline, is spearheading the agency’s initiative to expand into the fashion and beauty categories. All report directly to ecd John Staffen.

On the account side, Arnold has added Linda Watson, formerly at DCA Advertising, where she worked on Toyota Prius, to lead GSK brands including Nicorette, NicoDerm CQ, Commit, Tums and Citrucel. Christie McDiffett, 23, was brought down from Arnold’s Boston headquarters to be assistant account manager on GSK. Both report to evp, group account director Barry Silverstein.
