Another Bud Creative to Direct

Is there something about Bud spots that inspires creatives to covet the director’s chair? Following in the footsteps of John Immesoete, group creative director who left DDB in Chicago in December to direct with Backyard Productions, group executive producer Greg Popp left DDB on Friday to direct for Supply and Demand, effective immediately. Popp has co-directed with Immesoete many ads for Bud and Bud Light, including ads in the “Real men of genius” campaign and ads featuring Leon, an egotistical football player. Popp says the timing was right because “I have a reel of work that has fresh awards on it in a business that’s sort of here and now.”

4As Reveal O’Toole Winners

Crispin Porter + Bogusky won top prize for large agencies at the American Association of Advertising Agencies O’Toole Awards during the 4As management conference on Friday in Bermuda. The O’Toole Awards honor creative excellence in agencies of different sizes. Eisner Communications in Baltimore, Md., won first place in the mid-sized agency category, while Clarity Coverdale Fury in Minneapolis won first place for small agencies. The O’Toole multicultural award went to Bromley Communications in San Antonio, Texas. Wongdoody in Seattle won first place in the public service category for broadcast, and Lowe in New York won for the print division.

Lee Seidenberg, senior copywriter, and Brad Emmett, senior art director, have been promoted to associate creative directors at Cliff Freeman and Partners in New York. Seidenberg, 31, and Emmett, 30, work on Snapple and Canada Dry. The shop’s creative director, Dan Morales, left last week for Taxi in New York. … Mark Tutssel, Leo Burnett deputy chief creative officer, will be the International Andy Awards jury chair next year. He succeeds Alex Bogusky, who chaired the Ad Club’s award show for two years running. … Josette Lata, 36, has joined JWT in New York as head of art buying.
