AICP Show Adds Musical Category

NEW YORK The Association of Independent Commercial Producers has created a new category for the AICP Show recognizing musical arrangements, an AICP representative said on Monday.

The new category was created at the suggestion of the Association for Music Producers, an affiliate of the AICP. Called Musical Arrangement, the category will honor new arrangements of existing songs for commercials. Previously, the AICP show had honored music in two categories: Original Music and Sound Design.

“When [members of AMP] were judging the music category last year, there was a feeling like they really needed to add this category, because there were these rearrangements of existing music that were very good and really added to the whole commercial, but they weren’t able to be considered,” said Joanne Ferraro of Coppos Films and AICP Show chairperson. AMP proposed the new category to the AICP board, which unanimously approved it. “Its great that the music companies and agencies have another category to enter,” Coppos said.

The 2004 AICP Show will take place June 14 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Entry forms will be available online beginning Jan. 5 at and The entry deadline is Feb. 13.
