Rabasca + Co. was appointed St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center’s advertising agency, following a review. The client is a community hospital in Port Jefferson that provides medical, surgical and rehabilitative services. The Melville-based shop will handle the hospital’s advertising and marketing-communications efforts.

HBO Video tapped The Pere Partnership to handle creative duties for the DVD and VHS release of the miniseries Band of Brothers. The New York-based advertising and design agency designed the DVD and VHS packaging; it will also create consumer and trade print ads, indoor and outdoor signage, and all point-of-purchase materials. The video and DVD are scheduled to be released in early November; the campaign is slated to break in the beginning of October.

McCaffery Ratner Gottlieb & Lane was named advertising agency for de Cesare, the holding company of Fossil Graphics, which manufactures digital laminate for custom decorations and signage. The New York-based shop will redesign the Deer Park-based client’s logo and graphics, and create trade and consumer print ads, direct mail and product-branding materials. Billings are expected to be more than $1 million.

Columbus, Ohio-based SBC Advertising and College Point-based Display Technologies created an interactive in-store mer chan diser for Wayne-Dalton Corp.’s idrive garage-door opener. The displays have been placed in Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouses. The client is based in Mount Hope, Ohio.

Christy MacDougall Mitchell finalized a merger agreement with Communications Plus to form advertising agency Christy MacDougall Mitchell Bodden. The new shop, which is based in New York, will headed by president, executive creative director Chris Bodden, who was president, chief creative officer at Communications Plus. CMMB’s clients include Sara Lee Coffee and Tea, Howard Johnson Hotels, ERA Real Estate, The Daily News, the Israel Ministry of Tourism, Konica Photo Imag ing, North Fork Bank and the National Education Association. CMMB has 85 employees and claims $120 million in billings.

Burson-Marsteller formed a global practice specializing in corporate and institutional ethical and social responsibility. The New York-based public relations and communications-counseling firm’s ESR practice team consists of staffers with experience in change communications, corporate-reputation management and corporate social responsibility. B-M has 72 offices in 32 countries. It is a unit of the Young & Rubicam family of companies, which is part of WPP Group.

TMP Worldwide Direct in Mount Olive was tapped by Andin International to conduct four focus-group sessions for its jew Web site. The client is a New York-based jewelry company.

CPRi Communications was hired by Nashai Biotech to handle its public relations efforts. The client is a Nashville, Tenn.-based product-research, development and procurement company for dietary supplements, over-the-counter medicines and active pharmaceutical ingredients. CPRi is charged with implementing a public relations campaign that includes media relations, business-to-business and business-to-consumer communications. CPRi is a Teterboro-based marketing and communications company that specializes in healthcare and technology. It also has an office in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Security Biometrics named Keating Public Relations its public relations agency. The New York-based client is a technology-acquisition and commercialization com pany. Keatingpr, which is based in Mill burn, focuses on the life-sciences, financial- technology, lifestyle and eco nomic-development sectors.

Marc Brownstein, president and executive creative director of The Brownstein Group, endowed a scholarship at The Pennsylvania State University’s College of Communications. Each year, an undergraduate student majoring in advertising or public relations will receive a portion of the scholarship’s principal. Brownstein is a 1981 graduate of Penn State. The Brownstein Group, which has offices in Philadelphia and Bellevue, Wash., is a strategic-marketing company that provides advertising, public relations, interactive and direct response services.
