3 Left In Office Depot Review

Contenders in the review for Office Depot’s marketing account have been whittled down to three finalists: BBDO, New York, D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Troy, Mich., and incumbent Gold Coast Advertising in Miami.

New York’s FCB Worldwide, New York, is out of the running for the estimated $60 million business.

The Delray Beach, Fla., client would not release a decision date.

Office Depot’s account has bounced from Gold Coast to J. Walter Thompson, Chicago, to Wyse Advertising in Cleveland, to DeVito/Verdi in New York and back to Gold Coast in 1999.

“Few know as much about this category as we do,” said Stuart Dornfield, Gold Coast president. “We’ve lived it from the beginning.”

SFM Media in New York handles media chores.

Ken McCaffney, the Jones Lundin Beals consultant handling the review, had no comment.
