2nd Course: CTP Plays Pinehurst

BOSTON Pinehurst Resort has selected Conover Tuttle Pace to develop a communications program with an emphasis on promoting the centennial of its famed No. 2 course.

“We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Pinehurst, one of the leading golf destinations in the world,” said shop CEO Chip Tuttle. “The No. 2 course holds a special place in the history of golf in the U.S.”

The No.2 course at the Pinehurst, N.C., club has hosted U.S. Opens, Ryder Cup matches, the PGA Championship and the U.S. Senior Open. In 2008, Pinehurst will be the site of the U.S. Amateur for the second time.

Public relations will form the cornerstone of CTP’s work for Pinehurst. The budget was not disclosed.

CTP, an independent agency here, has a dedicated golf division and has worked for the Ryder Cup, the PGA Merchandise Show, Callaway Golf and several top New England private courses.

Along with its sports-marketing bona fides, CTP is also known for online and offline efforts supporting clients such as Eastern Bank, E.B. Horn Jeweler, General Dynamics and GMAC Bank.
