Three contenders have emerged in the review for a $3-5 million advertising assignment from Security Capital Group.
Vying for the account are: Allen & Gerritsen, Watertown, Mass.; Cohn Godley Norwood, Boston; and Doremus, New York. There is no incumbent.
Rick Hooker, an official with Pile and Co., the Boston-based consulting firm overseeing the competition, confirmed the list of contenders but would not elaborate.
The search is being run out of Security Capital’s Chicago office, and a decision is expected this month. The client has not returned calls since the review began last month.
Advertising efforts will seek to establish a brand identity for the client’s mutual funds, a new business for the publicly traded company that last year claimed net income of $106 million on sales of $368 million, primarily from its real estate investment ventures nationwide. Initial advertising is expected to be print-based and national in scope.
The client is looking for an agency with experience in the financial services category, particularly with mutual funds clients, Pile and Co. officials have said.
Cohn Godley has created TV ads touting mutual funds services from San Francisco-based Charles Schwab. That assignment does not pose a conflict with Security Capital, since its funds are likely to be offered through Schwab brokers. Allen & Gerritsen works for State Street Bank. Doremus specializes in business-to-business accounts, with expertise in the financial services category.
