2 Chicago Shops Open Bank Accounts

Money was in banks for two Chicago agencies last week.
Citizens Banking Corp. named Jack Levy Associates agency of record on its $3-5 million account, while Grand Premier Financial, a Wauconda, Ill.-based holding company, deposited its $1-3 million business at K&R Marc.
Levy won out over 17 other agencies that were involved in the Flint, Mich.-based bank holding company’s exhaustive search. Stone & Simons Advertising, Southfield, Mich., the company’s agency since 1993, did not participate in the review.
“We were just looking for a change,” was the explanation offered by Karen Magidsohn, senior vice president and marketing director at Citizens.
The agency will handle strategic planning, market research and brand development for the client. The media mix encompasses direct, TV, print, radio and outdoor advertising.
“[The agency and bank] share the same client-focused philosophy, commitment to excellence in financial services marketing and understanding of the importance of balancing brand and product,” said Catherine Pagni, a vice president and management supervisor at JLA.
With locations throughout the Midwest, Citizens is Michigan’s third-largest bank holding company, and is in the process of acquiring banks in Wisconsin and northern Michigan. When those deals are completed, the company will have total assets of over $7 billion.
Separately, K&R Marc landed the Grand Premier account in a review over one undisclosed agency. The company operates 23 branches in eight Northern Illinois markets under the Grand National Bank name.
The agency’s work will include collateral, point-of-purchase and Web site support, as well as a brand-building campaign. –with Trevor Jensen
