Jeff Dack is joining Wunderman Thompson Canada to serve as its first chief executive.

Dack, who currently serves as CEO of Carat Canada, will begin his new role on Sept. 3. He will be based in Toronto.

His appointment comes as Wunderman Thompson, which was formed last year following WPP’s merger of ad agency J. Walter Thompson and digital network Wunderman, continues to build the entity’s leadership team, post-merger.

Susan Kim-Kirkland, who previously served as president and CEO of J. Walter Thompson Canada, will now be “pursuing new opportunities,” according to a Wunderman Thompson spokesperson. Michel Sergio, former president of Wunderman Canada, will be transitioning into a Volkswagen client-facing role.

In his new role, Dack will oversee the strategic vision, growth, operations and client relations for Wunderman Thompson Canada, which has offices in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

Before joining Carat Canada in 2016, Dack held a number of leadership positions at companies including Lowe Roche (an IPG shop that closed in 2015), vitamins, minerals and supplement company Jamieson Laboratories and ad agency Taxi.

“I couldn’t be happier that Jeff Dack will be joining our powerhouse North American leadership team,” Shane Atchison, who joined Wunderman Thompson as North America CEO in December, said in a statement. “With his unique mix of agency and client-side experience, Jeff brings a fresh perspective that will help us unite creative, data and technology for our clients.”
