Devika Bulchandani has taken on more responsibilities at McCann, where she’s been promoted to president of North America.
Bulchandani will continue to serve as president of McCann New York, a position she took on in 2017 after serving as managing director of the office. She fills a role that was previously held by Chris Macdonald, who was promoted to global president of advertising and allied agencies last year.
As president of McCann North America, Bulchandani will oversee its agency offices in Detroit, Minneapolis, San Francisco and Casanova//McCann in Los Angeles, as well as McCann Worldgroup Canada, which includes offices in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
McCann New York has had a successful year under Bulchandani’s leadership. The agency won two Grand Prix awards at Cannes Lions this year, one for Microsoft’s “Changing the Game” campaign and another for its work on March For Our Lives.
“Devika has demonstrated in her New York leadership role that she has the vision and energy to drive multiplatform growth and creativity on behalf of our mix of global, regional and local clients,” said Harris Diamond, chairman and CEO of McCann Worldgroup, in a statement. “Under her stewardship over the last couple of years, McCann New York has become one of the industry’s most recognized agency offices globally for creativity, effectiveness and business growth.”
Bulchandani first joined McCann in 1997 as a strategist and was promoted to chief strategy officer of McCann New York in 2005. She’s also one of the founders of McCann XBC, the agency’s dedicated unit for Mastercard. In 2014, she became president of McCann XBC.
McCann New York also recently appointed Kevin Nelson as managing director. Nelson most recently served as global business leader on the agency’s Microsoft account, a role he still retains.
