BBDO has appointed Crystal Rix to the position of global chief marketing officer, effective immediately.
Rix will take on the global CMO role in addition to her current role as chief strategy officer at BBDO New York. In the new position, Rix will play an instrumental role in new business development, addressing clients’ business needs as well as promoting the agency’s offerings to both current and prospective clients.
“We’ve never had a global chief marketing officer before. Mostly because I’ve never felt we had the right person to do it. Now we do,” BBDO worldwide president and CEO Andrew Robertson wrote in a statement.
Rix is a BBDO veteran of over a decade. Before being promoted to BBDO New York’s chief strategy officer in early 2017, she served as group planning director and director of business development for the New York office, leading planning on accounts including Mars, Inc., AT&T and Barbie. She first joined BBDO West in 2004 as a senior brand strategist. Aside from a year with Venables, Bell & Partners in 2007-2008, Rix has been with BBDO since her 2004 debut, serving as deputy head of planning for BBDO West upon her return to the office in 2008. Rix made the move to the New York office in 2011.
“Over the last 18 months, Crystal has led the team that developed and implemented ‘BBDO Works,’ our new planning process, across the network,” Robertson wrote in a statement. “Her clients are inspired by her thinking and she’s been a major contributor to important new business wins over the years.”
