SAN FRANCISCO Omnicom Group’s BBDO West in San Francisco said it has added communications chores for Nutro Products, a unit of Mars that markets pet food brands such as Max, Natural Choice and Ultra.

There has been modest media support for those brands of late, with the three Nutro product lines backed by less than $200,000 in U.S. ads last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

At present, no budget has been finalized, and BBDO initially will focus on strategy and positioning.

The addition constitutes an expansion of the office’s work for Mars, which already handles Sheba, Cesar and WholeMeals pet foods.
