BOSTON Strategis said it has added Massasoit Community College to its client roster.

The two-year school in Brockton, Mass., had previously handled advertising chores in-house, and Stoughton, Mass.-based Strategis becomes its first lead agency.

The shop will craft broadcast advertising, which will include radio and cable TV, as well as print, interactive and out-of-home efforts. Campaigns will be in English, Spanish and Portuguese and the media buy includes Hispanic TV network Univision.

New work is expected to break later in the month, according to the agency. The budget was not disclosed.

Like many smaller colleges in New England, Massasoit is seeking a boost in its constant battle against a bevy of larger, better-known schools as well as numerous like-sized regional institutions.

Strategis was launched in 2000 and recently changed its name from HireAds, though that name continues as a separate agency division. The independent shop’s other clients include Catalina-Spagna and Factory Curtain Outlet Shops.

Last month, the agency hired Klaus Gensheimer as creative director. He had been at Boston’s Trinity Communications, where he served as cd, working on accounts such as Liberty Mutual and Wausau Insurance.
