The Wired hires continue with the addition of Vera Titunik, Jason Parham and Ivylise Simones to the publication.
Titunik joins as features editor and will be based out of New York when she starts on July 17. She arrives from newyorker.com, where she was executive editor. Prior to joining the New Yorker last spring, she had been Sunday Business editor at The New York Times and story editor at The New York Times Magazine before then. Prior to joining the Times, she had been a senior editor at Fortune.
“Vera is one of the best editors around. And one of the best people too,” said editor in chief Nicholas Thompson, who, like Titunik, joined (or rejoined, in his case) Wired from The New Yorker. “I’m thrilled to get a chance to work with her again.”
Jason Parham joins as a New York-based senior writer covering culture. When he starts on June 26, he’ll be coming over from The Fader, where he was senior editor. Prior to joining Fader, he had been an editor at Gawker. He is also the founder of Spook, a literary magazine.
“I’ve been a fan of Jason’s writing for years. He’s a superb stylist and thinker, and his voice will be a wonderful part of our cultural coverage,” said Thompson.
And finally, the Mother Jones poachings continue at Wired with the hire of Ivylise Simones, who joins as design director, platforms. She starts July 5 and will be based out of San Francisco. She had been creative director at Mother Jones, and was design director at the New York Observer before then, seeing the site through a redesign.
“I couldn’t be more excited about Ivy too—she did an amazing job at Mother Jones, and I can’t wait to see how she redesigns and reimagines our digital platforms,” said Thompson.
