NEW YORK The advertising community gathered here yesterday to honor Cliff Freeman, John Hegarty and Diane Rothschild as they were inducted into the One Club Creative Hall of Fame.

A running theme of the evening was Neil French-bashing. Much of Rothschild’s acceptance speech refuted the WPP Group creative consultant’s remarks in Toronto several weeks ago that women weren’t suited for the ad business because they have babies.

“It’s no longer 1934, and childcare is no longer the sole responsibility of the mother,” she noted.
