NEW YORK In his first major personnel move since becoming worldwide CEO of Interpublic Group’s Foote Cone & Belding in mid-June, Steve Blamer has appointed Nigel Jones to head FCB’s U.K. Group, the agency said.

Jones, 45, is currently CEO of an agency he helped found, Claydon Heeley Jones Mason in London. His start date at FCB has not yet been determined. He will replace John Banks, who was CEO of FCB’s U.K. Group until he retired in June.

In a statement, Blamer said, “Nigel is exactly the caliber of strategic leader that we need in the FCB network. He has a proven track record of successful client retention, an outstanding new business record and an admirably strong understanding of modern brands, consumers and marketing communications disciplines.”

Jones is a graduate of Oxford University with a degree in mathematics. He began his advertising career in 1984 at BMP DDB in the account planning department and worked on Sony and IBM.

FCB’s clients in the U.K. include Beiersdorf, SC Johnson and the Jamaica Tourist Board.
