CHICAGO Regional bank WesBanco has awarded its $3-5 million advertising account to independent agency Blattner Brunner after a three-month review, according to the shop.

The Pittsburgh agency’s duties will include advertising, public relations and in-branch merchandising and promotion. The shop’s first task will be to create a television and radio branding campaign.

“Blattner Brunner demonstrated a strong understanding of our industry and our brand, made solid recommendations for taking our marketing communications to the next level, and showed superior creative work,” said Doug Molnar, svp of marketing for the Wheeling, W. Va., company, in a statement.

The account had previously been at JCI Advertising in Pittsburgh, which participated in the review. Other contenders were not disclosed.

Billings were not disclosed, though one source said they were in the $3-5 million range. Wesbanco, which has 86 branches in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, spent less than $1 million on advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
