NEW YORK Intermix said it has reached an agreement with the New York State Attorney General’s office to settle a lawsuit brought against the company in April accusing it of distributing spyware.

The Los Angeles company said it reached an agreement in principle with Eliot Spitzer to pay $7.5 million in fines over three years and agree to cease distributing adware, home page redirect and toolbar software. Intermix has said it stopped distributing the programs at the heart of the lawsuit before it was filed.
