WPP Starts 2005 With Big Gains

WPP Group said its first-quarter revenue rose 16 percent to $2.12 billion compared with same period last year. On a like-for-like basis (excluding acquisitions and currency fluctuations) first-quarter revenue rose 6 percent. The London-based holding company last month completed $1.7 billion purchase of Grey Global Group. WPP said it posted double-digit revenue growth during the quarter across all regional operations.
